Beatrice Odera
Beatrice Odera has worked at the KCCB – Catholic Justice and Peace Commission, now a Department (whose mandate is to promote peace and enhance good governance) for close to 22 years at various levels. From 2012 to date she has been the National Executive Secretary, responsible for programmes design, planning and implementation at the national level. She was also coordinating and facilitating implementation of programmes in all the 25 CJPC offices in the dioceses of the Catholic Church.
She has been involved in the successful implementation of governance and peace projects funded by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (15 years), European Union (4 years), German Embassy (3 years), Misereor (20 years), Diakonia (11years), Fastenopfer – Swiss Lenten (7 years), Trocaire (8 years), CAFOD (11 years), Caritas Australia (2 years), Reinvent – Coffey (1 year), CRS –2 years, Swiss Embassy (1 year) and the locally funded Church project ‘Lenten campaign’ for 15 years.
Beatrice has also been involved in Kenya’s general election planning and observation from 1992 to date. She is one of the pioneers and a member of technical working group for the Dialogue Reference Group on governance who led to the settlement of conflict and stalemate over Independent Electoral and Boundaries towards the 2017 Kenya’s General Elections. She was a steering Committee member of the then Kenya Integrated Civic Education Programme (KNICE), is a Steering Committee member of Elections Observation Group and chair of the Groups’ Finance, Fundraising and Procurement sub-committee.
Since the launch of the Catholic Church’s Environmental Protection Campaign in October, 2018, Beatrice managed to rally the Justice and Peace Department to plant trees during the Annual National launches of Lenten Campaign which trickles down to the Dioceses launches as well.
Beatrice holds a BA in Political Science and Sociology, an MA in Project Planning and Management (both from the University of Nairobi), a Diploma in Project Planning Management (from Klausenholf – Germany) and a Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Kenya Institute of Management. I have a certificate in Corporate Governance from the Federation of Kenya Employers.
